Breast Life

A west of Ireland breast cancer support group

Ann, Geraldine, Hilary, Jackie, and Mary, five ordinary Galway women who have suffered from breast cancer, have come together to set up BreastLife, a west of Ireland breast cancer support group.

The group has received great support from the breast clinic at GUH Cancer Care West, the Athenry Cancer Support group, and the Irish Cancer Society.

The inaugural meeting will be addressed by Professor Michael Kerin, professor of surgery in GUH at 8pm on December 2 in The Ardilaun Hotel, Taylor’s Hill, Galway. Support meetings will take place at 8pm on the third Thursday of every month with the initial meetings taking place in Inis Aoibhinn, Costello Road, Shantalla, Galway. (Thursday January 15 at 8pm, and on Thursday February 19 at 8pm )

The aim of the group is to create an informal, confidential, space for people at all stages of their breast cancer journey to get together and support each other. It is also hoped that there will be invited speakers of interest from time to time. It will be free of charge and people with breast cancer can attend as seldom or as often as they wish.
