Students occupy Minister’s office

Gardaí were called to the office of Minister Eamon O’Cuiv on Thursday after student activists occupied his Galway offices.

At around 2pm gardaí in Mill Street were notified of a student occupation of the Galway Minister’s Flood Street offices.

The students were campaigning against the possible re-introduction of third level fees.

It is understood that some 20 students managed to gain access to the constituency office. Gardaí arrived at the scene and spoke with the protestors, who agreed to leave peacefully and no arrests were made. According to gardaí the students claimed they were from the Galway Socialist Workers Student Union.
