A local councillor has hit out at a bebo website which glorifies graffiti.
The Galway graffiti or <galwaygraf> bebo website hosts dozens of pictures of spray painting from throughout the city.
Galway city councillor Donal Lyons last night hit out at the site, which could be seen as glorifying vandalism of the city.
He said, “I certainly wouldn’t support such a site. People in Galway have been forced to dedicate an awful lot of time and effort to the clean up of graffiti in the city and I’m sure the majority wouldn’t support such a site either.”
The site contains instructions to would-be graffiti artists on how to deal with gardaí if they are stopped and questioned.
However the site’s creator did ask grafitti fans to restrain from “tagging” historical areas of the city.
