Bill Clinton to be honoured by NUIG

Former US President Bill Clinton will be honoured by NUI Galway tonight when he is guest of honour at a function for the college being held in New York.

The former president is being honoured for his contribution to Irish peace at the National University of Ireland Galway gala dinner in the Metropolitan Club, New York.

Former president Clinton will be recognised as Distinguished Guest at this year's NUIG New York Gala for his outstanding contribution to Ireland, north and south, during his eight years of service as President of the United States, and in subsequent years since he left office.

At the same function, the college will also honour Loretta Brennan Glucksman, Chairperson of the American Ireland Fund.

A third generation Irish-American, from Pennsylvania, Ms Brennan Glucksman has served as Chairman of the American Ireland Fund since 1995 and spearheaded the Fund's successful 'Hope & History' $100 million campaign.
