NUIG and GMIT go ‘Head2Head’ to be named Galway’s best college

NUIG and GMIT are set to go ‘Head2Head’ over the next four months in a battle to be named Galway’s Best College 2008-2009.

In a title that has been disputed for a number of years, the two Galway colleges, NUIG and GMIT, are finally ready to settle the score...and they will be doing it all in the name of charity.

Coordinated by the student unions at each college, each of the three events will take place at Central Park nightclub, and will see all funds raised going to each college’s respective Rag Week charities.

The first event, which takes place next Monday, is the Head2Head Quiz, a “uniquely designed good old fashioned quiz night”, which will pose four students from each school in a battle of the brains. The second event, a battle of beauty, will be the Real Model Student competition on November 17, a “contest with a twist to see which college has the fairest of them all”. The final event, which will take place in the new year, will be the huge Head2Head Fundraising Battle in which each college will have two consecutive Tuesday nights in CP’s to design and host a themed fundraising event specifically for their students. The winner of the event will be the college which raises the most money from their theme night.

The overall winner of the competition will be the college which has earned the most points on the ‘Head2Head’ league table, a tally of all points earned throughout the three events.

Tickets to all events will be available through the student union offices on each campus. Additional points are up for grabs for the college which has the most supporters at each event. For more details check out www.bebo.com/headtoheadG
