Galway West Fianna Fail TD Frank Fahey has confirmed that €15,000 has been sanctioned for temporary accommodation for the Traveller families currently parked on public lands in Knocknacarra.
The announcement came late last week after Deputy Fahey learned of the funding being allocated by the Minister for Housing, Urban Renewal, and Developing Areas Michael Finneran TD.
“The Traveller families who are currently parked in Knocknacarra are awaiting accommodation at Carrowbrowne but it is not yet ready,” explained Deputy Fahey. “This €15,000 funding will provide for temporary accommodation in the intermediary period.”
Deputy Fahey commended Minister Finneran on his allocation, saying that the situation in Knocknacarra was “not desirable” for the Traveller families nor the local residents.
