Calling all Galway school bands

RTÉ 2FM is calling on the various rock bands formed by Galway’s secondary school students to send in demos now for consideration for School of Rock 2009.

Five bands will be chosen to compete at five regional heats .The judges will then choose one band from each heat to go forward to the final.

The Connacht Regional Heat will be held in Róisín Dubh on Saturday November 29. Juno Falls will perform as special guests. The gig is an all-ages event and tickets are available for free now from www.rte.ie/2fm/schoolofrock

The winner of the School of Rock will receive a €10,000 gift voucher redeemable against musical instruments, pianos, and accessories from Everest Music & Piano Centre, Bray and Dun Laoghaire; five days’ recording time in Pulse Recording Studios, Dublin; interview with Hot Press; support slot at an MCD music event; photo shoot with Enda Casey; digital radio for each band member; and an engraved Mario Cioni Kono Blue Crystal Award for the band’s school.
