Open Day for GMIT

The Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology (GMIT ) will welcome thousands of second level students to its two campuses in Galway later this month for the college’s annual Open Day.

Busloads of secondary school students from counties Galway, Mayo, Roscommon, Clare, Leitrim, Donegal and the midlands are expected to visit the Galway campuses throughout the day on October 22 from 9.30am to 4pm.

The Open Day includes guided tours and information talks on the college, its programmes and facilities in both the largest campus at GMIT headquarters on the Dublin Road and in Cluain Mhuire, the creative arts campus on the Monivea Road.

Tours will take in the Institute’s schools of business, engineering, hotel and catering management, humanities, and science, as well as the Institute’s landmark IT Learning Resource Centre, its libraries, laboratories, studios, workshops and kitchens.

Numerous stands will provide information on student services, student accommodation, clubs and societies, the Students Union, and the Institutes’ two other campuses in Letterfrack and Castlebar.

A shuttle bus service will operate from the Cluain Mhuire campus from 10am with the last bus returning at 3pm.

Booking is advisable due to the large numbers attending the event. Completed booking forms must be returned to Student Services, GMIT, Dublin Road by October 15 or can be faxed to 091 751107.
