City planners have given the green light to the HSE West to build a 146 space temporary car park at UHG in a bid to ease the parking problems at the hospital.
The new car park will be located at the western end of the UHG campus and access will be from a proposed internal ring road on the hospital grounds. It will be 0.57 hectares in size and consist of bituminous tarmacadam surfacing, kerbing, landscaping, lighting, CCTV security, drainage, control barriers, and ancillary works.
UHG bosses must also submit a car parking layout plan and a detailed landscaping plan to the planning authority before the commencement of work on the car park.
