The Galway City Council has carried out enhancement works on a large number of Galway estates.
The works took place in Clareview Park, Bayview Rise, Rahlyn Glebe, Monivea Park, Ballybane Road, the Mervue area from Glenina Heights to the Monivea Road, and also a large part of the Renmore area.
The works include cutting back of the green areas, removing weeds on the footpaths and spraying same, strimming around all the trees, flower beds, and poles, and a general sweeping to complete these works.
Cllr Terry O’Flahery said, “I felt that those areas needed the clean-up that took place due to the condition and the state that they were in, the grass on the greens in most of these estates had been growing over the kerbs and on to the footpaths which looked unsightly. Since the removal of the weeds and in particular the trimming back of the greens there has been a major improvement in all those areas”.
