Ardilaun to auction hats for charity

The Ardilaun hotel, sponsor of Best Hat 2008, has invited three Galway milliners to design three special hats as part of The Ardilaun’s Galway Races 2008 project.

These hats will be auctioned, to raise funds for the Galway Branch of the Irish Kidney Association, at an event which will take place on Saturday August 23 at The Ardilaun hotel, Galway.

A Real Galway Banquet will feature well-known star chefs and hospitality experts Fred Cordonnier, John Healy and Nick Munier – all of Conor Kenny and associates.

Based on the colours of the Galway Races theme – Going for Gold, Royal Admiral and Summer Solstice - the headpieces were exclusively designed for this project by Galway milliners – Emily-Jean O’Byrne, Suzie Mahony and Jaime McEleney.

“As part of our 2008 Galway Races project, we showcased three Galway milliners nationally through our involvement with the Ladies Day competition. These milliners are kindly donating their creations for a very worthy cause. We hope that people in the Galway region who need specialist kidney therapy will benefit. We are seeking generous buyers to take the opportunity to bid on these fabulous hats and contribute to a good cause during our exclusive ‘Real Galway Banquet’ event on the August 23 at The Ardilaun hotel,” said John Ryan, managing director, The Ardilaun hotel.  Brothers, John Ryan of The Ardilaun Hotel and Anthony Ryan of Anthony Ryan’s Ltd are co-sponsors of the Best Dressed and Best Hat competition at Galway Races Ladies Day.
