The Whole Way Round raises more than €100,000

Almost 150 motorbike riders turned up to Cunniffe's, Cloonboo, on the Headford Road. Galway last month for the Children’s Lifeline Challenge Whole Way Round event, sponsored by Safety Direct.

With 125 competitors and 20 officials it was the biggest Whole Way Round challenge to date.

The Whole Way Round challenge is now in its third year. The aim of the Children’s Lifeline is to raise funds for Our Lady’s Hospital for Sick Children, Crumlin.

Last year the fundraising efforts by all on the trip helped raise €82,000 for the hospital. This year expectations were high and participants were not disappointed as they broke the €100,000 mark.

The route this year started at Mondello Park's International racing circuit with a lap of the track and finished in Dublin on Monday, taking in Westport, Donegal, and Dundalk throughout the four day trip.

This is the second year running that Safety Direct have sponsored The Whole Way Round challenge and the Whole Way Round 2007 will be aired on RTE next Sunday at 5pm.
