Missing divers found safe off coast

Seven divers who were feared missing off the Connemara coast were found safe over the weekend.

The divers, who were located in Kilkerrin Bay, are believed to have drifted away from the boat which was accompanying them. The alarm was raised when the staff the boat failed to locate them at their anticipated surface time on Saturday morning.

Shortly after midday the Aran Island Lifeboat, which was launched in a search and rescue effort along with helicopters from Shannon and Sligo, found the seven divers three miles away from the original position where they had been expected to surface. The Galway Lifeboat and the Cashla Bay Coastguard also took part in the search.
