Adult shop raided at knifepoint

A female shop assistant at a local adult store was terrified by an armed raider in broad daylight last week.

The shop assistant working at Tullow Street store ‘Temptations’ was threatened at knifepoint when a man entered the store demanding cash at 5pm last Wednesday evening. The man, who is described as having an Irish accent and measuring around five foot eleven is being sought by the gardaí. He was wearing a blue jacket with grey stripes, a blue tracksuit bottoms and a grey hoodie under his jacket concealing his face.

Though only a small amount of cash was stolen, gardaí say the assistant was very distraught by the incident.

In the busy weeks in the run up to Christmas, gardaí are hoping that an evening shopper in the area may have noticed the man before or after the incident and may have some information that could help with an arrest, according to a garda press office spokesman.

Carlow garda station can be contacted on 059 91 31505.

Meanwhile, retailers are being warned of the circulation of forged fifty euro notes and are asked to be vigilant as the shops process an increased amount of tender.
