Maryanne O’Sullivan (Tinryland ) had a superb run in finishing third from a field of over 80 athletes in the U16 All-Ireland cross-country championships held at the weekend in Tramore, Waterford.
Danny Lawler (St Laurence O’Toole’s ) ran with great determination to finish 10th in the U14 race at Tramore in windy and wet conditions from a large field of over 100 runners. Danny has made great progress this year and is one to watch for the future! In fact Danny won an All-Ireland team gold medal as Leinster was the first province home.
Deirdre Doyle (Tinryland ) had a good run in placing 11th in the junior women’s category at the All-Ireland cross-country championships and will be competing in her own age group (U18 ) in two weeks time at Navan.
Shane Lawler (St Laurence O’Toole’s ) ran a gritty race to finish 22nd in the U18 cross-country event while O’Toole’s team-mates Kevin Lawler & Brian Kirwan both ran well in the senior men’s race. Kevin Lawler finished in 18th position & may have qualified to run for Ireland in the European U23 cross-country championships.
The O’Toole’s U14 girls’ team performed well in their race although they finished outside of the medal positions. The team comprised of Niamh Buggy, Leah Lawler, Vera Nekrosova, Shannon Lawler, Zaneb Mohammed & Sarah Dermody.
