Kathryn Tomas promotes new book at home

Carlow native and face of RTE’s No Frontiers, Kathryn Thomas, was in Carlow at the weekend for a signing of her new book Off the Beaten Track.

Kathryn visited Byrne’s Bookstore in the Fairgreen Shopping Centre on Sunday at 2pm where she met with many of her fans and friends and signed copies of her first book on her travels all over the world.

As Ireland’s best-known globetrotter, Kathryn has travelled to such exotic locations as Antarctica, Papua New Guinea, Ethiopia, Mali, Venezuela and the Australian outback.

The book paints vivid scenes such as the dramatic view from the roof of the world in the Himalayas; the exuberance of Senegalese musicians and dancers; the awe-inspiring grandeur of such wonders as Uluru in Australia or Angel Falls in Venezuela; and the warmth and generosity of the isolated villages of Papua New Guinea.

Off the Beaten Track also offers practical guidance on travelling to such out-of-the-way places and Kathyrn tells her stories in her well-known candid and exuberant style for which she is known and loved.

Anyone who likes No Frontiers will like Kathryn’s book. This is a great stocking filler for anyone who likes to discover foreign places — either from the couch, or to use it as a guide as to where you should go on your next holiday.
