Carlow Historical & Archaeological Society are hosting a lecture by Brendan O' Donoghue on " County Surveyors 1834 --1944".
The county surveyors were the forerunners of county engineers and worked with the grand juries in planning & building roads & bridges . They had a powerful influence on the development of the road network .
The bridge over the Slaney in Tullow for example, when was it built? Who built it ? Why there? Come to the lecture on Wednesday November 19 in the Ramada Hotel, Killerig at 8pm. Admission is free and all are welcome.
