Death of Ballyhade woman under investigation

The community of Ballyhade on the Carlow/Kildare border was shocked on Tuesday to hear of the untimely death of one of their own.

The death of Theresa Doran is under investigation by Kildare County Coroner, Dr Denis Cusack.

Members of the Doran family, well known in the area and in the neighbouring village of Palatine and throughout Carlow town, were shocked and saddened to discover 53-year-old Theresa, wife of Michael Doran Jr, at the end of her stairwell on Tuesday morning.

According to locals in the village, the wife of Michael Doran, who is a famous commentator in the locality, suffered a fatal fall in her own home. Theresa Doran’s body was moved to St Luke’s Hospital for examination by Kildare County Coroner Dr Denis Cusack early on Tuesday. Dr Cusack conducted a postmortem following the incident.

Exact funeral details are not yet available though local funeral directors Pat McGuill and Sons in Bennekerry are dealing with her remains and are expecting to bring her to St Mary’s Church, Bennekerry, on Friday morning for removal.
