The Kilkenny Hockey Ladies seconds team played Enniscorthy on a beautiful Sunday morning. Due to unforeseen circumstances some of the panel could not attend, leaving the team one player short.
This made it an up hill battle from the start. Kilkenny played exceptionally well under the constant pressure of Enniscorthy, conceding one goal in the first half.
Not long after that Kilkenny drew level from a quick break scoring the equaliser by one of the newest members Sarah Thomas. At half time the teams remained 1-1. Due to an injury to Mary Murphy late in the first half she had to sit out the remainder of the game.
The second half of the match showed Kilkenny’s true team spirit and they held Enniscorthy until mid way through the half when Enniscorthy broke the defence line to score their winning goal, bringing the final score to 2-1 defeat for Kilkenny.
