New Oak claims top spot in premier division

New Oak maintained their whirlwind start to the season as they claimed top spot in the Carlow People premier division with a 3-1 defeat of Hanover Harps to end their opponents unbeaten start to the season. Parkville United are the only remaining team in the premier division with a 100 per cent record as they made it three wins from three matches defeating league champions Crettyard United 3-1.

Burrin Celtic picked up their first points as they thrashed fellow strugglers Bagenalstown 5-1, while Ballymurphy Celtic picked up their first win of the season as they defeated Kilree Celtic 3-0.

The remaining premier division game between Stretford United and St Fiacc’s was called off .

Castle Rangers stormed to the top of the Nationalist division as they thumped Stretford United “B” 7-0, while the sole remaining game in the second tier league saw Hackettstown United and Nurney Villa share the spoils in a 2-2 draw.

The other two games scheduled between Palatine Celtic and Wolfhill Athletic and Ridge Rangers and Killeshin were called off.

Borris FC have already opened up a five-point gap at the top of the White’s Pharmacy division as they defeated Parkville United 3-1 to record their third win from three matches.

Grange FC record their first win of the season as they defeated Derry Rovers 6-3 away from home, while New Oaks Boys moved into second place and recorded a 6-0 trouncing at home to Ardattin Athletic.

Dereen Heights and Baltinglass ended 2-2.

Dolmen Flooring division league leaders Hackettstown maintained their 100 per cent start to the season as they easily defeated Parkville United 4-0, while second-placed Hanover Harps recorded a 2-1 victory at home to Carlow Rovers.

Rathanna Celtic are placed third in the table as they won for the first time this season defeating Burrin Celtic 3-0, while Nurney Villa defeated Tullow Town 2-1.

There are three Carlow clubs in action in the FAI Junior Cup this weekend.

Borris FC are away to Mellville United, while the clash between premier division duo, Kilree Celtic and Crettyard United in Bagenalstown should be intriguing.

Meanwhile the draw for the first round of the Leinster Junior Cup was made with all games down for decision on September 21.

New Oak Boys have been drawn away to Kilkenny outfit Deen Celtic, Hanover Harps are at home to Avonmore AFC.

League champions Crettyard United have a tricky task facing Stradbally Town, Burrin Celtic also face a daunting dask as they travel to Kildare to face Newbridge Celtic.

White’s Pharmacy leaders Borris FC have home advantage against Hardwicke FC.

Kilree Celtic are at home to Leicester Celtic, while Nationalist division outfits Ridge Rangers and leaders Castle Rangers also have home advantage against Suncroft and Blackrock College respectively.

Parkville United are away to Coolrain Celtic, while Palatine Celtic have been drawn away to Seaview Cetlic.

It’s a Wexford v Wicklow knockout clash as Slaney Rovers face Rathnew.

Early season premier division strugglers Bagenalstown make the trip to New Ross, Derry Rovers from the White’s Pharmacy league will travel to Meath to face Dunboyne as under dogs. Dolmen Floor division league leaders Hackettstown United will be expected to progress against Rialto FC, Ballymurphy Celtic face the All Blacks while Stretford United are away to Taghmon United.
