ENTERTAINING GALWAY FOR OVER HALF A CENTURY

Monroes is a must see for anyone visiting the West of Ireland. Monroes has been a cornerstone in the Westend of Galway City since 1964. Originally, the ‘New Manhattan Bar’, John and Margaret Monroe returned from New York City to open the bar to great excitement as the first Galway bar to have table service, a ‘Ladies Lounge’ and a ‘Singing Lounge’. The venue remains family owned and operated and has always been a ground-breaking venue for live music.

Now over 50 years strong, Monroes is unparalleled for live music, fresh quality food and friendly service and stands tall as one of Galway’s most recognised landmarks. So next time you’re exploring Galway’s Westend be sure to pop in for a pint, some food from Monroe’s Kitchen or to hear some live music which runs in the bar 7 nights a week. You can also experience traditional Irish Music & Set Dancing every Tuesday night at 9.30pm with their dedicated group of local set dancers.

Come along and give it a try.
