A primary school in the Ballinasloe area got good news recently with the announcement that it is to retain its special needs assistant.

Deputy Paul Connaughton was informed about Cappataggle national school by the National Council for Special Education. The Fine Gael TD had made a strong case for the retention of the full time post to the Minister for Education.

Indiana choir to sing for AIDS West

The University of Southern Indiana Chamber Choir and the Rowan Tree Irish Traditional Band will perform a free concert at St Nicholas’ Collegiate Church on Saturday May 15 at 8pm.

Under the direction of Daniel Craig, the choir will sing sacred and secular pieces and will include music by Monteverdi, Sweelinck, Berkey, and Irish traditional songs. The event is in aid of AIDS West.
