Blondie and Bell X1 to rock Big Top at Galway Arts Festival

The legendary Blondie and the popular Irish indie band Bell X1 will be playing the Galway Arts Festival Big Top this July.

The bands are the first festival acts to be announced for the 2011 festival which runs from July 11 to 24.

Blondie play the Big Top on Wednesday July 20 and the concert will mark their second performance at the Galway Arts Festival. Their previous outing was in 2008, where they performed their classic 1978 album Parallel Lines and an array of hits, turning in one of the best concerts of any arts festival in the process.

Bell X1, who play on Saturday July 16, will be releasing their new album Bloodless Coup soon. Their new single ‘Velcro’ has already been a huge radio hit in Ireland and has been generating an international buzz for the band, opening up new possibilities for them abroad.

Tickets for both shows go on sale tomorrow. Blondie costs €39.50 and Bell X1 is €35 through www.galwayartsfestival.com and www.ticketmaster.ie The 2011 Galway Arts Festival programme will be announced on Thursday May 26.
