‘A rebel garda chases a local hoodlum into the underworld’

Fiach to be shown at drive-in cinema in Connemara

We have all been missing out: that music festival, that cinema date, that theatre show; the exhilaration of live entertainment. Well, Fíbín has the answer.

Drive-in to the wild west of Connemara and encounter a live show that will take you on a joy-ride of comedy, drama, and suspense. With the atmosphere of a rock concert, the magic of the silver screen, and the intimacy of a radio play, Fiach will have you on the edge of your car seat. It is everything you have been missing.

Taking place in Baile na hAbhann, Connemara, between Wednesday August 12 and Saturday August 22, Fíbín in association with An Taibhdhearc is providing the live entertainment for its ever-growing audience, in a Covid-19 safe, unique setting. Fiach is a show where theatre practitioners, from actors, to designers, to set builders, can again collaborate in making a live show for a live audience. Where there is a will there is a way. After all - the show must go on.

Fiach is Fíbín’s artistic director, Philip Doherty’s first production, since winning the top awards of Best Irish Film and Best Irish First Feature in the Galway Film Fleadh, with his feature film Redemption of a Rogue.

Commenting on Fiach Doherty said; "Fíbín wanted to rise to the challenge in making theatre that is safe, but thrilling for a live audience. We've had to think outside the box, and if anything it has pushed us to be inventive, and create new ideas for performance. We are delighted to be able to invite an audience to Fiach, our drive-in theatre show, where people can enjoy the electric experience of watching a story together in a great atmosphere'."

Fiach is the first Irish language drive-in drama in Ireland and Fíbín acknowledges the continued support of Ealaín Na Gaeltachta, Foras Na Gaeilge, and the Arts Council in funding the staging of Fiach.
