Slyrydes - new single, Róisín Dubh gig in April

Band unveil a different side to their sound on fifth single

SLYRYDES, THE Galway punk/post-punk/indie rock band, are about to release their fifth single, 'I Claim To Be intelligent', while next month they play a headline show at the Róisín Dubh.

'I Claim To Be Intelligent', to be released on Thursday March 26, is the first single of 2020 from Slyrydes - Fuz Reilly (bass ), Mark Comer (lead guitar ), Marc Raftery (vocals ), Paul Clarke (drums ) - and it gives a different perspective on their sound.

“With this new single I think we show off a side to us the listener hasn’t heard before," said Fuz. "The way we write songs is ever evolving, to us this sounded more like an REM song the first time we played it together."

Slyrydes play the Róisín Dubh on Wednesday April 15 at 9pm. Support is from Bullet Girl. Admission is €5. "This is a bit of a home coming for us," says Fuz. "I think we've done Galway quite proud Nationwide and even in the UK. We project our identity as a Galway city band quite proudly."

The band will also play the Sunstroke Festival, Punchestown Racecourse, Kildare, in June. See slyrydes.com
