Galway's new indie music festival launches this month

Not Bad to feature Dott, Myles Manley, Eoin Dolan, New Pope, and Field Trip across three venues over three days

NOT BAD, the city's new indie music festival, featuring 15 acts playing three venues - The Black Gate Cultural Centre, St Francis Street; Aras na nGael, Dominick Street, and the Nuns Island Theatre - takes place next week.

Not Bad, organised by Galway based singer-songwriter David Boland, is focused on connecting original musicians, DIY music scenes, and music lovers on the west coast. It also seeks to provide opportunities for musicians and fans to meet, exchange ideas, and experience the best indie from the region.

The opening night is at The Black Gate (November 29 ) and will see performances from singer-songwriters Eoin Dolan, New Pope (aka David Boland ), and Aul Boy; Galway indie-rock band Field Trip; and singer Sinead Ann.

On Saturday November 30, Aras na nGael will host a day and night show headlined by Dott and Myles Manley. Garage-rock/indie-pop quartet Dott, led by vocalist and songwriter Anna McCarthy, have released two superb albums in Swoon (2013 ) and Heart Swell (2018 ), via Graveface Records. The first single from Heart Swell, 'Like a Girl' became a kind of anthem for the Repeal the Eighth campaign, with a video featuring members of the Pro-Choice movement.

Dott have been called a "Galway-based underground supergroup" by The Irish Times, while Nialler9.com called their, "glowing garage pop, catchy and super fun". Pop Matters praised their knack for "a killer melody and those delicious harmonies".

Myles Manley has been called a "completely one-of-a-kind artist" with a "brilliant and unconventional poetic mind", by The Thin Air; "one of those eccentric geniuses who light up their surroundings," according to Clash Magazine; while The Irish Times praised his music as ""twisted pop nuggets". Also playing are MudBubble (Clare ), Cruiser (Limerick ), Arthuritis (Cork ), Neptune M (Donegal ), Dead Horse Jive (Galway ), Archmotors (Kerry ), Bury Me With My Money (Mayo ), and NewDad (Galway ).

On Sunday December 1 at 3pm Livefeed, a Galway 2020 European Capital of Culture Project, will host an all-ages event in Nuns Island Theatre showcasing Galway youth musicians.
