Kilfenora Céilí Band to play the Town Hall

The quintessential Irish céilí band in concert in Galway city

REGARDED BY many as the quintessential Irish céilí band, the Kilfenora Céilí Band, have released a new album, Both Sides Now, and are about to play the Town Hall Theatre.

The show is on Sunday November 24 at 8pm, and will see the band joined by singers Edel Vaughan and Jerry Lynch, dancers Laura Minogue and world champions Michael and Matthew Gardiner.

The Kilfenora Céilí Band are John Lynch (banjo, mandolin ), Claire Griffin (accordion ), Tim Collins (concertina ), Gary Shannon (flute, whistle ), Anthony Quigney (flute, whistle, piano ), Anne Marie McCormack (fiddle ), Sinéad Heagney (fiddle, viola ), Anne Rynne (fiddle ), Eimear Howley (fiddle, viola ), Fintan McMahon (piano ), Sean Griffin (drums ), Brian O’Grady (double bass ), and Sharon Howley (cello ).

The new album, produced by Donal Lunny, features songs by Joni Mitchell, waltzes and polkas by Tim Collins, and reels and jigs by Charlie and Maurice Lennon. “The album is a metaphor for how the band has adapted," said Collins, "where the band is coming from and going, representing what we do to be successful as creative and performing artists.”
