GRETB Training Centre apprenticeship information days

Are you considering an apprenticeship as a career? As part of EU Vocational Skills Week, which aims to promote the value of vocational education and training, the GRETB Training Centre is hosting information days on October 15 and 16.

The Galway Roscommon Education Training Board (GRETB ) is extending an invitation to parents/guardians/students and all who may be interested in apprenticeship as a career to visit the training centre in Mervue Business Park, Galway.

The GRETB apprenticeship unit will be providing information stands, talks on apprenticeship and giving guided tours of the training centre. The day will be divided into two information sessions, with the first session starting at 10.15am and the second at 1pm.

Visitors will have the opportunity to see the extensive facilities available including workshops for carpentry and joinery, electrical, motor mechanics, and metal fabrication.

Apprenticeship is a programme of education and training which combines learning in the workplace with learning in a training centre or educational college. Apprenticeship provides the opportunity for learning acquired off-the-job to be applied and further developed under supervision in the workplace. An apprenticeship can be from two to four years in duration, they range from QQI Level 5 to QQI Level 9, and the apprentice is paid for the duration of the apprenticeship. As well as traditional trades such as plumbing and electrical, GRETB now offers apprenticeships in areas such as auctioneering, manufacturing, finance, laboratory technician, accounting technician, and insurance practitioner. For the full list of apprenticeships see www.apprenticeship.ie

You can call GRETB Training Centre on 091 706 221 to book your appointment.
