On the roads again ...

The state of the roads continues to be a major issue for the county, according to Fine Gael local election candidate for the Gort-Kinvara district, Fionn Kiely.

“I have seen this myself as I continue to meet people," he says. "Many are saying the current state of some of the roads in the area is ‘completely unacceptable'.

"Some of the roads in the area are in major need for upgrading and resurfacing. There has been a chronic under-investment in the local roads in the area in recent years, and much more needs to be done.”

In particular need of review are traffic calming measures around Clarinbridge, Kilcolgan and Maree, and the road surfaces around Clarinbridge, Killeely and Maree.

"There are various points in the region where the current speed limits need to be reviewed and revised if necessary, and traffic calming measures introduced in recently built-up areas," he says. "Road safety has to be a priority at all times."
