It has been a busy few weeks for Louise Ward. After helping Galway seal a place in the TG4 All-Ireland Senior Ladies' Football Championship final, the midfielder swapped the football kit for robes as she attended her graduation ceremony at University of Limerick. And when she had received her Bachelors of Science in Physiotherapy, it was back to club duty for Kilkerrin-Clonberne before joining up with the county panel to prepare for Sunday's showdown with Dublin.

When Niall Cunningham rattled the back of the net three minutes into injury time in Croke Park on Sunday, one could easily forgive manager Dónal Ó'Fátharta for thinking that in less than a hour he would be sitting in the Croke Park museum auditorium reflecting on a famous victory for Galway in the most dramatic of circumstances. As in hurling in 1887, Galway took part in the first All-Ireland senior camogie final in 1932 which was played in Galway Sportsground.
In the only All-Ireland senior camogie final to be played outside Dublin, with the late Stephen Jordan TD of Athenry as referee, Dublin defeated Galway in windy and wet conditions by 3-2 to 0-2. Galway went on to participate in the All Ireland senior final in 1933, '37, '39, '40, '46, '60, '62, and '93 without success.
