This weekend, the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Semi-Finals take centre stage, along with the Tailteann Cup final, and there is absolutely no doubt that there is a major anticlimax here without Mayo's involvement in those semi-finals.

Galway’s 0-16 to 1-12 loss to Armagh on Sunday afternoon knocked them off the top spot in the group stage, and the result is a preliminary quarter-final against Mayo in Pearse Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The importance of defeating Cork on Sunday in round 3 of the All-Ireland group stages cannot be over-emphasised. If Mayo win, they top the group and go straight through to the All-Ireland quarter finals, ensuring they will avoid an extra game and a quarter final clash against another group winner, which will most likely be Dublin, Derry and Galway. Right now, that's the way it looks anyway.
