Knock Shrine has been recognised as a top performing attraction by the influential travel website Tripadvisor.
The holy site was recently awarded a 'certificate of excellence' from Tripadvisor because it has been reviewed so positively online.
Tripadvisor allows tourists to post reviews online about their experiences in hotels, restaurants, and other attractions which they have visited. Fans of the site regularly use other people's reviews to decide where they will sleep, eat, or visit.
Rector at Knock Shrine, Fr Gibbons, said both staff and management were "thrilled" with the "wonderful recognition".
"I would like to thank our staff who do such a wonderful job in welcoming people to Knock, in the great work they do every day in going above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that all who visit here have a pleasant and enjoyable experience," he said.
Fr Gibbons is also hoping the positive reviews will encourage more people to visit Knock, which already attracts some 1.5 million visitors annually.
"We would like to thank all of the pilgrims that have taken the time to post reviews and have written such warm and positive words about the Shrine and the staff here.
"We hope this trend will continue and people will show their support through this valuable medium and encourage others to visit."
