Instead of dressing up as spooky ghosts, bloodthirsty vampires and wicked witches for Halloween, members of Ballinrobe Musical Society will be performing a one off concert to raise much needed funds for one of their own.
19-year-old Oisín Gannon is currently being treated for a rare brain tumour in a London hospital. As the son of one of our committee members and part of a family who have been part of the society's tradition since the 1970s, they didn't hesitate to come to his aid in the best way we can. The society have rallied the troops - members from the past, present and those who are joining us for the first time - to sing their hearts out on Thursday, October 31 at 8pm in Ballinrobe Community School.
The society are proud to be welcoming to the stage the talents of Sean Costello, Dave Langhan, Sinead Heneghan, Niall Conway, Seamas Cafferky, Richard Crumlish, Angela Staunton, Mike Coen, Daithí Ryder, Graínne McConnell, Hilda Hughes, Sadhbh Langhan and more with the full backing of our award winning chorus.
For the first time ever, the audience will have a chance to hear a sneak preview of some of the songs from our 2014 40th Anniversary show A Tale of Two Cities by Jill Santoriello, based on Charles Dickens' most popular novel of the same name. They will also be performing anthems from Les Miserables, All Shook Up, Ragtime, Evita, The Pirate Queen, Titanic and Showboat. Tickets are on sale in Martin Murphy's Newsagents and Treacy's Pharmacy in Main Street Ballinrobe priced at €15. There will also be a limited number on sale at the door, but don't delay - this is a one night only treat not to be missed !
