Almost 1,000 competitors took part in the inaugural Rose of Tralee International 10k Road Race through the streets of Tralee last Sunday morning. Athletes from all over the world lined up for the event as part of the Tralee International Marathon Series. The winner of the men's event was Roger Barrett from Ballina, clocking a time of 32:38. The Mayo man only decided to run in the race the day before.
Masters win at nationals
Mayo AC had four of its masters athletes competing in the National Masters track and field championships in Tullamore last Saturday. Pauline Murray ran three races and won three medals, taking bronze in the 800m, silver in the 3,000m, and gold in the 1,500m. Seamus Gaughan fresh from his adventures at the World Police and Fire Games the previous weekend took silver in the M60 5,000m. Foxford’s Ann Murray won two bronze medals in the 200m and 400m, while Ballina’s Roger Naylor picked up a bronze in the 800m.
Get set to run among giants this August
Sunday week August 31 in Claremorris the annual DeCare Dental Sport a Smile five mile run will take to the streets of the town.
