Ballina four miler this weekend

Sunday will see round eight of the Mayo AC C&C Cellular 2012 Road Race League go to the tap in Ballina. This round of the league will be run over a four mile one lap course. The course will be well marshalled and the final mile will take runners up through the scenic Belleek Park. Race HQ will be at the Ballina AC track and entries will be taken on the day. Entry fee for the race is €20 and includes a T-shirt, the race will start at 3pm, there will be no prize fund for this race as all money will go towards cancer research. Cross-country competitions coming thick and fast

Last weekend saw large crowds turn out to compete in the C & C Cellular Mayo even ages, senior, junior, and novice cross country championships in Belleek, Ballina. In the adult events the senior ladies was won by Angela O’Connor of Mayo AC, with Pauline Moran also of Mayo AC winning the novice ladies, and Rosie Hynes from Swinford winning the u18 girls race. Cian Mulrooney from Ballina AC won the u18 boys, with Peter Hynes, Swinford, winning the novice men, and Robert Malseed, Mayo AC, winning the senior men’s. Saturday week, October 20, will see the Mayo uneven ages, intermediate and masters championships take place in Swinford at 11am. On November 4 in Ballina, the Connacht even ages, junior and senior championships will take place.
