Fundrasing car wash and trad session in aid of Western Care next weekend

The management and staff of the Top Castlebar Oil Depot and filling station at Moneen, Castlebar, intend taking out sponges, squeegees, and brushes for a charity car-wash day on Friday next, September 9, to raise much needed funds for Western Care Association. Tomas Geraghty, business development manager for Top Castlebar Oil, who is organising the event, is appealing to everybody who is in Castlebar on Friday next to drop into Top Castlebar Oil in Moneen where their vehicle will receive a thorough ‘shampoo and shower’ and will be returned to the road in gleaming condition. All funds raised on the day will go towards the replacement of a vehicle at Western Care’s residential service for young adults at Pontoon Drive, Castlebar.

The fundraising will continue next Saturday, September 10, when Cáirde Crann Mór presents a night of traditional music and sean nós dancing with KFM Trad Band in O’Malley’s Bar, Ballinrobe, at 9.30pm in support of Western Care Association, Ballinrobe Services. The recently formed KFM Trad Band is made up of talented young local musicians Chloe Feeney, Orla Mannion, and brothers Cathal and Anthony Kavanagh. Chloe Feeney is an accomplished musician and sean nós dancer while Anthony Kavanagh recently won two All-Ireland titles in the under 15 category for singing and banjo at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in Cavan. There will also be raffle and spot prizes galore on the night.
