International hairdressing qualification from Mayo College

This year, train as a hairdresser at Mayo College, Castlebar, where you will be taught by trained experts and have the option of completing FETAC or City and Guilds courses. The courses on offer fit around your own lifestyle, with both part-time and full-time hairdressing courses on offer.

The FETAC qualification is a stepping-stone in your hairdressing career. When you have successfully completed this qualification you will have the opportunity to progress to an internationally recognised qualification in hairdressing/barbering/wig making or colour technician qualification FETAC Hairdressing Level 5, it takes place over 15 weeks (three days a week ) from 9.30pm to 4.30pm and will commence on April 18.

The City and Guilds course can be taken full-time or part time. City and Guilds Stage 1 Hairdressing will take place over 20 weeks on Thursdays from 9.30pm to 5pm. It starts on July 7. Or, Stage 2 Hairdressing, which runs three days a week will start on July 6.

A City and Guilds full-time hairdressing course will begin in September 2011.

For those who are already working in the hairdressing industry they can take part in a fast track City and Guilds qualification. This will commence on July 4 and will take place on Mondays for 24 weeks.

Personal payment plans are available from the college and if you are in receipt of a Social Welfare payment you may be entitled to retain it while training at Mayo College.

Mayo College is an independently run hair and beauty college under the personal supervision of Angela Chambers. Ms Chambers is a state registered hairdresser and has received her master craftsmanship in hairdressing along with all City and Guilds NVQ in hairdressing. She has teaching qualifications and several years’ teaching experience.
