She has a first class honours degree in theoretical physics from UCD, she is a regular on our TV screens as a panellist on RTÉ’s flagship satire programme The Panel, she is well known for her exploits on Celebrity Bainisteoir with the Kiltimagh GAA club and now Mayo’s multi-talented 2005 Rose of Tralee winner Aoibhinn Ní Shúilleabháin is set to take to the stage as she joins Ragús for their spectacular homecoming tenth anniversary show on November 8 at the Royal Theatre, Castlebar.
“We’re thrilled that Aoibhinn is returning to join the Ragús show for our special homecoming concert on November 8. Aoibhinn toured with Ragús on our sell out Japan tour recently and she was a massive hit with all the audiences. Not alone is Aoibhinn a talented singer but she is also an accomplished concertina player,” stated Fergal Ó Murchú, Ragús, lead musician and show producer. The oldest sibling in a family of six, Aoibhinn has won several national competitions for her sweet singing style, including a number of accolades at the All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil competitions down the years. A native of Carnacon, Aoibhinn and her five younger brothers are all members of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann for many years.
“Aoibhinn is a multi-talented celebrity star and we’re delighted to welcome her back to Ragús for this special Mayo show. People will be shouting for more when they hear her version of the heart-warming ‘Peggy Gordon’. Aoibhinn is a real hidden musical talent and most people have never heard her perform on stage, so this will be a real treat for everyone,” Ó Murchú stated. Musically, Ragús takes you through the full spectrum of traditional Irish music, from the fastest jigs and reels on the fiddle and accordion to haunting airs on the uilleann pipes and whistle. Apart from Aoibhinn, several world-renowned musicians and singers including Eimear Quinn, Fergal Scahill, Marc Roberts and Seamus Brett will all be joining Fergal Ó Murchú and Ragús on November 8 in Castlebar as they celebrate the band’s success at home and abroad. This special once-off show celebrating the success of Ragús on the international stage on November 8 will surely give you shivers down your spine.
