Sheila is going for four in a row – with the relaunch of popular Monday morning (previously Wednesday morning ) Claremorris Slimming World group.
Slimming World consultant Sheila McLoughlin is about to open her fourth Slimming World group, with the relaunch of the popular Monday early morning group in Claremorris GAA Centre in their downstairs room, the official launch of which will take place on Monday, June 28.
Castlebar native Sheila, who has been a consultant for four years, opened her first group in Ballyhaunis in 2017 and says she has seen her members lose phenomenal amounts of weight, with one member alone losing eight stone, adding: "Not only have members achieved their dream target weight with her help, they have also changed their lives by reducing the need for certain medications, and improved health conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure.
"Members have also been able to have necessary surgeries that had been considered too high risk while overweight, and others have avoided surgery as a result of their weight loss and improved health."
Sheila opened her second group in Claremorris in 2018 to a great buzz and reports that her first year saw members lose a whopping 265 stone. She then proceeded to open a further Group in Strokestown, Roscommon, where members continued to successfully lose weight every week.
In March last year, along came lockdown but Sheila continued to support and encourage her Slimming World Members throughout this very uncertain and strange period via Virtual Groups and Members came together each week via Zoom.
With many businesses closing during lockdown, Sheila says that she is delighted to have been able to keep her business going while doing a job she loves.
Sheila said: "As restrictions ease, it finally feels like there’s light at the end of the tunnel. We know that, for many, focusing on weight loss has been harder than ever during lockdown, so we’re incredibly excited to be returning, step-by-step, to our real-life Slimming World groups, where guidance and venues allow.
"Everyone’s lockdown experience has been different, and the return to normal life will feel different for all of us, too. Some of us will be raring to go, while others may be feeling nervous and possibly fearful of the weight change that might have come with the emotional challenges of isolation.
"We have one simple message, it’s OK. As usual, there is never any judgement, just support and encouragement at Slimming World.
"Whatever lockdown has thrown at people, we’re ready to help members get back on track. In group we show understanding, care, compassion and unbeatable levels of support on your weight loss journey – every step of the way. Of course, our number one priority is keeping you safe, so you’ll find safety measures in place in all Slimming World groups.
"Given the challenges of lockdown and links between Covid-19 and obesity, Slimming World’s life-changing and life-saving support is more important now than ever.
"Slimming World’s experience and expertise means it understands both the physiology and the psychology of weight loss. And their research programme ensures that we can offer the very best service to our members.
"Slimming World’s methods are firmly evidence-based – which is why they work. Lockdown has had an effect on all of us - turning our lives upside down, disrupting our routines and making us feel more anxious than usual as we worry about our own health and the health of loved ones.
"It’s really no surprise it’s had an effect on our choices around food, drink and activity. Having lost five stone myself, I know I’ve had my days when it’s felt really difficult to stay motivated and that’s completely ok, we’re all only human.
"I’ve been so excited to get back to real-life weigh in, and see everyone again. Groups are running with a few changes to keep everyone safe and reassured.
"There’s no better place to help you get back in control than a Slimming World group, where there will be absolutely no judgement about the choices you’ve made or any weight you’ve gained during lockdown – just understanding, trust, friendship, community spirit and lots of fun and laughter.
"No matter what’s happened since we last welcomed you at your group, we promise you nothing but the warmest, friendliest and most understanding welcome back. We’re here for you, to help you reach your dream weight and hold on to it."
