Kilkenny hurling star John Tennyson has picked up an infection in his injured knee, putting his participation in Kilkenny’s 2011 Championship campaign in major doubt.
The Carrickshock clubman underwent surgery on a cruciate ligament injury after this year’s All-Ireland final and was making steady progress until this setback. The 25-year-old suffered the setback while getting fluid drained from his knee last week.
The half back is a key member of the side and will no doubt fight to be fit in time for the 2011 campaign. Tennyson holds four Leinster titles, three All-Ireland medals and two National Hurling league medals.
