Local music website KilkennyMusic.com was shortlisted for a prestigious web award last week, missing out to rookie music magazine State on the night.
The website, which promotes local music in Kilkenny, was nominated in the ‘Best Music Site’ category for this year’s Irish Web Awards, held in the Radisson SAS Royal Hotel in Dublin last Saturday night.
Founder members Ken McGuire and Ross Costigan represented KilkennyMusic.com at the awards, where they were pitted against luminaries such as State.ie, the music magazine which recently became a free publication, and new music TV site www.muzu.tv
Although KilkennyMusic.com failed to scoop the award for best music site, one award did make its way back to Kilkenny, KilkennyMusic.com’s Ken McGuire winning the gong for ‘Best Podcaster’ for his weekly Playlist Mix.
“Needless to say there was some level of surprise, shock, delight and a little more surprise but it’s great to get acknowledged for the work you’re doing, when you least expect it,” he wrote on the KilkennyMusisc.com website.
