Solidarity TD Ruth Coppinger will address a public meeting in Galway centred on the repeal of the Eighth Amendment and the right of bodily autonomy for all women in Ireland.
The meeting, organised by the socialist-feminist group ROSA (Reproductive rights against Oppression Sexism and Austerity ) will be held in Aras na nGael, Dominick Street, on Monday at 7pm.
“There is a need for real change in Ireland at the moment," said Solidarity Galway West election candidate Jessy Ní Cheallaigh. "Women, in particular young women, are becoming more and more politicised these days, taking notice of the injustices around them and recognising the links between them. Nothing will happen unless we come together to make the change ourselves. Repeal the Eighth, end misogyny, sexism, and rape culture, separate church and State; these are but a few of ROSA’s goals."
