The Galway International Arts Festival and Druid Theatre Company are strong contenders at this year's Irish Times Theatre Awards, with both being nominated in a variety of categories.
The Landmark Productions and Galway International Arts Festival 2017 co-production of Woyzeck in Winter has received six nominations for this year’s Irish Times Irish Theatre Awards, while the festival's first opera presentation, The Second Violinist, has received four nominations, including Best Director for Enda Walsh and Best Opera.
Druid has been nominated in three categories. Garry Hynes has been nominated for Best Director for King of the Castle; Druid Ensemble member Marty Rea has been nominated for Best Supporting Actor for King of the Castle; while Siobhán Cullen, Amy McElhatton, and Kate Stanley Brennan are in the running for Best Ensemble for their role in Crestfall. The awards ceremony takes place in Dublin in March.
