JOE ROONEY, who has achieved near legendary status for his roles in Father Ted, Killinascully, Spooky Stakeout, RiRa, and BBC's Roy, plays the Róisín Dubh Comedy Clubh this Friday, November 13.
Joe Rooney, one of Ireland’s hardest working and experienced comedians, is, according to Hotpress, “at times infectiously manic, and always riveting”. Leading British comedy website Chortle said of him: "Delivery plus content. He’s a smooth operator with an innate confidence”. He recently appeared in the stage version of The Shawshank Redemption at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, which garnered a five star review from The Sunday Times.
Support is from Corkman Paul Crowley. His take on being a 30-something man in modern Ireland has had audiences in stitches from Cork to New York. He is also in demand as an MC and regularly hosts at The Ha'penny Inn, Dublin, and City limits, Cork.
The MC is Steve Bennett. Doors are at 8.30pm. Admission is €8. Tickets are available in advance from OMG Shop Street, Róisín Dubh, www.roisindubh.net, and on the door.
