World Ocean Day celebrations at Galway Atlantaquaria

Galway Atlantaquaria will celebrate all things aquatic on Sunday as part of this year’s World Ocean Day.

Children can take part in science workshops with Dr How’s Science Wows and learn about Ireland’s beautiful sharks with Sarah Varian from Marine Dimensions.

Pirate Black John will drop by the aquarium for some cartoon drawing, while Jumping Clay, Tom Cuff Origami, and Susie Quinn Ocean Prints will also be on hand for visitors who are feeling creative. Younger children will be entertained with storytelling.

The Galway RNLI will run its suit-up challenge, while the Galway Dive Club and Galway Kayaking Club will be on hand to give visitors a taste for marine pastimes.

A special marine conservation area, and marine biodiversity displays will focus on the theme of Healthier Oceans = Healthier Planet.

World Ocean Day will run on Sunday  from 11am – 5 pm and reduced prices will apply on the day. Children who come dressed as a marine creature or character will receive free entry to the event.
