New head coach for Wegians

Galwegians has appointed former Leinster junior club coach Matt Dillon as the new head coach for the 2014/15 season.

Dillon will partner Connacht legend John Muldoon to coach the Glenina outfit in its first year back in division 1B following promotion last year.

He takes over from the successful Cory Brown who is unable to continue in the post due to his work with Connacht Rugby.

Dillon is a former professional and semi-professional rugby player who has lived and played in England, South Africa, Australia, Italy, USA and in Ireland since 2007. He played representative rugby in England, Australia and USA and was a full time professional in Italy.

Since 2007 Dillon has been Senior Cup coach with Dublin’s Catholic University School in Dublin, coaching them to the Vinnie Murray Trophy in 2011, and was until recently head coach with Leinster junior side Railway Union RFC, and also coached Old Wesley u-21s. He also is a founder and coach of the Wild Geese Sevens team, the premier sevens team in Ireland.

Dillon, a former business analyst, now works actively on the Playball kids sport programme and coaches in four schools in the Dublin area.
