After a bumper 2013 event, NUI Galway Mature Students Society is hoping to once again attract record crowds at the Family Fun Day on Sunday August 10.
Taking place between 1pm and 5pm, at the Bailey Allen Hall NUI Galway, this is the second year that this event will take place in aid of The Galway Brasov Group Orphan Project.
The Family Fun Day is a great day out for all of the family. The entertainment will include a mini disco where Barney, Dora, Mickey and Minnie will be showing off their dance moves, face painting, arts, games, and much much more.
"We can't wait to welcome the staff, students of NUI Galway, their families and the local community for a day of fun once again,” said Michelle Mitchell, who added: “Last year nearly 1,000 people joined us which helped us to raise funds for the Hand in Hand charity but we're hoping to beat that record this year and welcome even more.”
A stand will be available for the purchase of tea, coffee, and freshly made sandwiches for adults with an adequate seating area available. Doors open at 1pm and an entrance fee of €3 per person will apply, with children under two years free. There will also be a draw with the prize of a family pass to Loughwell Farm Park. There will be free parking on campus all day for this event.
All funds raised on the day will be donated to The Galway Brasov Group Orphan Project which hopes to bring a group of orphans to Galway and have them spend Christmas with families in the area.
Mary Butler Walshe from the Galway Brasov Group said: "The family fun day will be a great day for the family and we are hoping to raise much needed funds to bring the orphans to Galway for Christmas. There will also be a benefit night on Wednesday August 13 in the Salthill Hotel, music provided by the Joe Dolan Tribute and the Jive Buddies, tickets are €10 and will be available at the door which opens at 9pm. So we are hoping that Galway will get behind us and support all our upcoming events."
