The former honorary Consul of France, who now lives in Oughterard, has recently been elected consular councillor for the French citizens in Ireland.
Marie-Helene Poudevigne was elected to the position recently at the French Embassy in Dublin.
Councillor for the French citizens is a new category of representatives for the French abroad. There are 443 French councillors across the world. They will sit at the consular council presided by the relevant French Ambassador and deal with all matters relating directly to the French abroad, their interests, and their rights.
