Grealish welcomes new Garda Text Alert System

The new Garda Text Alert System will allow members of the public instant communication with the Garda Síochána and help with the prevention of crime.

This is the view of Independent Galway West TD Noel Grealish who has welcomed the announcement of the new system, which was announced by Garda Commissioner Martin Callinan at the National Ploughing Championships recently.

If an incident report is received by the gardaí from a member of the public and they deem it appropriate and necessary, they will send the information to a designated community contact, who will then forward the information to residents in their area.

Communities can now apply to register for this system from www.garda.ie Dep Grealish believes instant transfer of up to date information from the gardaí will give a “sense of security to people concerned about the closure of rural Garda stations”.
