Brave the cold and raise funds for Down’s Syndrome

A local charity is seeking people to take part in its annual Christmas morning swim which will take place at Blackrock on Christmas morning at 11am.

Voices for Galway (Down’s Syndrome Galway branch ) says its fundraiser is the ideal feelgood start to Christmas Day.

“This is a fun get-together and one which helps to raise much needed funds for speech and language and occupational therapy for children and adults with Down’s Syndrome in Galway city and county,” explains a spokesperson for the charity.

“Voices for Galway are a group of dedicated parents of children with Down’s Syndrome and was set up to raise funds to meet their children’s requirements in these two most vital areas. It is completely funded by public donations, sponsorship and support. By giving to us your local charity money stays local and helps those who need it most.”

People interested in taking part in the challenge should contact Jim Flynn at (087 ) 9582425 or Joan Carr at (086 ) 8911203 or Carmel Hannon at (087 ) 6476438.

Donations to Voices for Galway can be lodged at Bank of Ireland, Mainguard Street. Sort Code 90 37 95 – Account Number 39972069. People will be given a receipt.
